A career built on solving real problems
Marcus Wolton is the Chief Broking Officer and co-founder of Gerrards, where he oversees people and culture, team performance, and insurer and supplier relationships, ensuring the team has the tools, support, and partnerships needed to deliver consistently strong outcomes for clients. Marcus began his insurance career at Crombie Lockwood (now Gallagher) in 2019, working within their Small Business Broking team, a commercial insurance environment designed to develop new-to-industry brokers. After 18 months, he moved to Aon, where he spent just over a year before co-founding Gerrard's. Prior to insurance, Marcus studied at the University of Canterbury, completing a Bachelor of Commerce with a double major in Economics and Marketing. Alongside his studies, he was a high-performance athlete, representing New Zealand in high jump at the Oceania Championships and achieving a personal best of 2.11 metres, with national medals and a second-place national ranking to his name. Marcus obtained his Level 5 insurance qualification in 2020 and has been a licensed broker for six years. He is particularly proud of Gerrard's commitment to investing in people and world-class systems and processes, an approach he believes directly benefits both the team and clients through consistency, efficiency, and exceptional coverage outcomes. Outside of work, Marcus enjoys being part of car communities, reading, going to the gym, and has recently taken up boxing.
