Gerrards Named Official Insurance Partner of Softball New Zealand

We're proud to announce that Gerrards is now the Official and Exclusive Insurance Partner of Softball New Zealand – Poiuka Aotearoa.

This partnership didn't start with a marketing plan. It started with our own people.

Softball runs through our team

Two of our team, Reuben Elkins and Kynwin Gibson, are heavily involved in softball, and their commitment to the game was a big driving factor in our decision to get behind it.

Reuben is a commercial insurance broker in our Christchurch team. Outside the office, he plays for his club in Christchurch, the Canterbury representative side and the New Zealand Under 23 team, and was selected to compete at the Under 23 Softball World Cup in Colombia. He's been working towards that since he first picked up a bat at four years old.

Kynwin leads our Auckland East branch as Branch Director and is every bit as committed to the game.

Through Reuben and Kynwin, we've seen first-hand what softball takes: the early mornings, the travel, the time and the commitment, along with the whānau, coaches and volunteers who keep clubs running. When the chance came to back the sport they love, it was an easy decision.

What the partnership includes

• Naming rights for two national tournaments: the Gerrards Insurance Under 18 White Sox and the Gerrards Insurance Under 17 Girls Nationals, both in Counties Manukau in January 2027.
• A presence at national events, through signage and awards.
• Shared stories over the next year. Softball NZ and Gerrards will celebrate players, teams and milestones together.

Backing the next generation

Reuben knows what it means to come through the age-group grades and earn a New Zealand shirt. Supporting the Under 18 White Sox and Under 17 Girls Nationals is our way of helping the next group of players do the same. We're looking forward to being on the sidelines in January.

Softball NZ Chief Executive Casey Eden says Gerrards' existing ties to the sport made the partnership a natural fit, and that there's plenty to look forward to over the coming year.
